Songs of Love, Hope and Kindness
Howdy my friends,
So many times, we’ve all witnessed the miracles of people coming together when there is a natural catastrophe, earthquake, floods and fires. The very things we hope most to not happen — become the events and experiences that bring out the fullness of our compassion and courage as human beings.
I didn’t see such a thing coming this springtime, but it has — in a wide ranging form. The disruption changes its target every single day. The steady result is that thousands of families are instantly thrown into panic as mom or dad lose their jobs with no notice or reason. I know that kind
of panic from experiences in my own life as a child. After job loss comes, the fear of losing home and community follows quickly. We are coming together — I see that happening already. People are joining together in town halls and at protests and it does not matter now how you voted in the past. What matters now is that we speak out in this time and help each other through something that has brought the entire world to high alert.
For me, no matter how we come to action, we must not lose our love and kindness and goodwill. We are capable of navigating these strange times in ways we will be proud of.
On Sunday, April 27, I will be performing an online concert to bring love and laughter and feelings of togetherness. My hope is that it’s at least a tiny spark that you have been needing amidst the constant barrage of frightening news. This will not be a political evening, but one of friends coming together. I’ll sing for you from my living room to yours. Wear your jammies if you like. Forget about hunting for parking spots. Traffic is of no concern to you. Just wander over by the couch and fall generally towards it. It’ll all work out and then I will appear on your Big Screen TV to sing all my most beautiful songs to you. I really hope you’ll join us on April 27.
