On a cold , grey horizon
Where the hills trace the sky
And the clouds roll along the ground
And I wait and watch for any clear thing
Some kind of meaningful sign
Sun come down and warm me
Golden friend, I need you now
This time of year is so blue I am grateful
When you do come out
Just one sunny day could save my life
You know how it is when nothing is right
I was not meant to live without sun light
Over my shoulder
Broken dreams and rusty fallen leaves
Are all around
Lost and scattered through the city
As I am now
I know this will end, it always has
If I only knew when, this too shall pass
I just need a friend to make me laugh
And I will recover
Oh then the sun burst out like diamonds
To relive this ache within
I’m walking on in the dazzling dawn
All hopeful again
I’m walking on in the dazzling dawn
All hopeful again
Walking down the road inside me
For all my life
I’ve often had a lonely feeling
I don’t know why
Cause all that we see is here for us
So hard to believe I lost my trust
I’m not gonna leave without true love
One way or another
On a late winter morning
In the pale glow of dawn
There I spot something on the ground
And I turn and search for a flicker of green
Some early promise of spring
On a cold, grey horizon
Where the hills trace the sky
